Department of Health and Ageing Study into Drugs in Sport

Dr Stephen Moston, a senior lecturer at James Cook University, is conducting a major research study on behalf of the Department of Health and Ageing concerning the attitudes of athletes and coaches towards drugs in sport and is requesting the assistance of local elites athletes and coaches.

Athletes and coaches are invited to participate in the survey which is being conducted by researchers from James Cook University and Griffith University. This study is supported by the Australian Government through the Anti-Doping Research Program of the Department of Health and Ageing.

The aim of the study is to examine the attitudes of elite athletes and coaches towards doping in sport (use of performance enhancing and recreational drugs).

An elite athlete is defined as a person who has played competitive sport at a regional, state or national level. An elite coach is one who has coached an athlete or team competing at regional, state or national level.

Participation in this study is voluntary. Athletes and coaches are free to decline to participate or to withdraw from participating at any stage.

The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete. You will not be required to identify yourself at any stage and your responses will be strictly confidential. You (and your club) will not be identified in any way.
